Cincinnati Accountant Teaches Children Economics With Baseball
Burke & Schindler’s Patrick Burke Pens Swing for the Fences to Help Kids Gain Basic Economic Values
Cincinnati, OH – February 17, 2014 – Accountant and entrepreneur Patrick Burke, who successfully manages accounting firm Burke & Schindler, is taking on the challenge of explaining economics to children with his new book Swing for the Fences.
Swing for the Fences portrays business as a series of entertaining economic puzzles and solutions, presented in an easily understandable manner both children and their parents will enjoy together. Main character Tommy desires a new baseball bat to help him clinch a spot on the Hillsdale All-Star team. Knowing his father, an accountant, won’t hand over the money that easily, Tommy takes his father’s offer of paying for part of the bat if he can earn the rest. Like many other children, Tommy decides to open a lemonade stand. Tommy thinks it will be easy until his father teaches him to do market research and pay for the costs of operation including production costs and space and table rental. Tommy quickly realizes the risks and rewards of being an entrepreneur, making it a heartwarming and educational read.
Patrick Burke has been helping his clients solve economic puzzles for decades. As a serial entrepreneur himself, he is intimately familiar with business puzzles and putting them together to create successful businesses. Patrick has been the Managing Partner of Burke & Schindler for over 30 years and also sits on the board of various organizations, including Boys Hope/Girls Hope of Cincinnati.
