Butler County Visitors Bureau Collaborates with MetroParks to Develop Voice of America Complex
Five Year Projected Economic Impact of $20 Million Dollars and 105 Jobs
Butler County, OH – October 2, 2012 – The Butler County Visitors Bureau (BCVB) today announces their collaboration with the Butler County MetroParks in the development of a new, sports complex at Voice of America Park. The new complex features 22 natural grass fields sitting on 100 acres as part of the existing Voice of America Park, located at the corner of Tylersville and Butler Warren Roads.
Executive Director of The Butler County Visitors Bureau Mark Hecquet added, “We believe this is a great investment for the future of Butler County. These types of facilities will be tremendous generators of revenue through tourism spending. The BCVB has a proven record of attracting large events such as the USA Archery Adult and Junior Nationals Championships, the AAU Girls Basketball National Championships and the USA Triathlon Junior National Championships. This complex will allow us to draw in even larger sporting events in the future.”
Hecquet says there will be a positive economic impact for the whole of the county, generated through an increase in job creation and spending throughout the business community by those visiting the new facility. Based on the AECOM report, by year 5 the complex expects to draw 45 new events annually with 21 of those events being tournaments. These tournaments expect to bring in 21,000 participants annually resulting in approximately 20,000 room nights and $20 million in direct and indirect spending.
Executive Director of MetroParks Jonathan Granville stated, “MetroParks is pleased to be collaborating on this project with an organization that will mutually benefit from this expansion.”
BCVB will invest $100,000 each year for 10 years. The complex is projected to be complete by fall 2014. For additional information regarding the Voice of America Complex Enhancement Plan please visit http://www.GetToTheBC.com/VOA.
