Robin Givens and Leon star in Ericka Nicole Malone’s “In Love with Tyrone”, a nine-city touring gospel stage show that plays the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford tonight at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.
Also featured is gospel-recording artist Brian Lamont.
Givens will play the role of Danetta, a wife left to pick up the pieces after discovering her husband Tyrone’s affair with her best friend. Leon will star as Sullivan, a dark mobster determined to recover the money Tyrone owes him.
The show is described; “A play about a cheater exposed and a schemer’s demise, the plot journeys through pain and bitterness to renewal and redemption as Danetta rediscovers her faith and values.”
Givens is best known for television series “Head of the Class” and movies “Boomerang”, “Head of State”, “Blankman” and Tyler Perry’s “The Family that Preys.” Recently, she has had a recurring role on USA Network’s “Burn Notice” and made an appearance in “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne.” On the stage, she has starred as Roxie Hart in the Broadway production of “Chicago” and performed in the off-Broadway version of the “The Vagina Monologues.”
Leon is best known for “Cool Runnings”, “Cliffhanger”, “Above the Rim”, “Buffalo Soldiers” and “The Five Heartbeats”. Voted by AOL Black Voices in 2011 as one of the sexiest actors of all time, he also appeared on NBC’s “Crossing Jordan” and was first noticed in Madonna’s music video for “Like a Prayer.”
