Texas Insurance Industry Receives 14 Distinctions at National Convention
The Texas Association of Health Underwriters recognized nationally at 81st annual event

San Antonio, TX — July 7, 2011 — The Texas Association of Health Underwriters (TAHU) received several awards and distinctions at the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) 81st annual convention in San Antonio from June 26-29. Comprised of more than 1,900 health insurance agents throughout the state of Texas, the organization’s national success reflect excellence in areas of leadership, continuing education, media relations, membership and journalism.

“The awards we received reflect the hard work of immediate past President Louanne Trebing and her board,” current TAHU President Joanna Antongiovanni said. “That being said, we owe the awards to the dedication of our members at every level.”

Past NAHU President and longtime TAHU member Beth Ashmore received the prestigious Gordon Memorial Award, recognizing her as the industry’s person of the year. In addition, TAHU won the Landmark, Presidential Citation, Media Relations and Robert W Osler Education awards while Trebing received the Distinguished Service award and Reid Rasmussen of Dallas received the Journalism award. The Dallas, East Texas and Texoma chapters brought home the Pacesetter award, Fort Worth won the Robert W Osler Education award and Texoma received the Media Relations award. With 401 members joining TAHU this year, the organization won the award for most new members while Region VI received the NAHU Cup for scoring highest in all three categories of the national membership drive.

“We certainly have a lot of momentum heading into next year,” Antongiovanni said. “These awards are not exclusively tied to others in the industry; they are the result of an organization of people seeking to serve their clients to the best of their ability.”
