Myrtle Beach, SC — June 23, 2011 — Aurora Casket Company’s Steve Slazyk offered up two continuing education seminars at the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association’s 113th annual conference on June 14. Slazyk‘s first presentation, “Creating Funeral Packages that Work” offered up suggestions for creating funeral packages that drive revenue within legal guidelines. Slazyk also presented “What if Nobody Came to Your Funeral?”, examining methods of informing the local community of a death while avoiding replacing the funeral ritual itself.
“Many funeral directors struggle to create funeral packages that fit within the Federal Trade Commission’s guidelines,” Slazyk said. Slazyk’s presentation included Aurora’s five suggested packages that help firms understand available packaging solutions.
Slazyk‘s second presentation analyzed traditional forms of communication, such as the local newspaper versus newer forms, such as social media.
“Dwindling attendance at funerals is not a new challenge for many funeral directors,” Slazyk said. “Knowing how to get the word out in a sensitive and effective manner is critical to meeting the needs of the families we serve.”
