Ericka Nicole Malone’s “In Love With Tyrone” Premiere “Phenomenal”
Gospel stage play draws rave reviews at Cincinnati launch
Cincinnati, OH—October 21, 2011—Ericka Nicole Malone’s hard work paid off last weekend with the launch of her tenth gospel stage play “In Love with Tyrone” at Cincinnati’s Aronoff Center for the Arts. The multi-talented playwright, producer and director shared with audiences her own story of “the right woman falling in love with the wrong man.” Starring Tasha Griffith as Danetta and Brian L. Roberts as Tyrone, the performance depicted Danetta’s realization of her husband’s affair and her ensuing struggle to redefine herself and find redemption.
“The show was phenomenal, it was an absolutely outstanding production,” said Brittany Grant, who attended last weekend’s performance. “Watching this production I laughed, cried, felt inspired and empowered. It was an encouraging story that every woman can relate to with just the right touch of comedy that warms the heart. ‘In Love With Tyrone’ is definitely a must see and I highly recommend it.”
Malone’s previous works have appeared at The Louisville Memorial Auditorium, The Opera House in Lexington, Ky. The Heyman Theater in Lafayette, La. and Pabst Theater in Milwaukee, Wisc. and include “I Feel Like Praising Him” and “You Can’t Keep a Good Woman Down.” “In Love with Tyrone” will continue its national tour this spring and will appear as a novel by the same name.
“I think people were surprised at how good the play was,” Malone said. “You could tell how much the audience enjoyed it by the way people responded to the songs and turning points in the dialogue.”
